Principal Systems Engineer, Communications Hardware (Remote Eligible | Relocation Assistance Available)

Role Overview

System Architecture and Requirements

• Develop system architectures, block diagrams, and interaction diagrams spanning industrial design, electrical, RF, mechanical, software, and product management.
• Analyze power, thermal, and computational budgets and balance performance, size, and cost.
• Write and vet testable system requirements, review product requirements, simulate subsystem capability, and maintain traceability through verification and validation.

Technical Leadership and Risk

• Lead cross-discipline design reviews, build stakeholder alignment, and resolve competing engineering constraints.
• Own system-level verification and validation strategy and identify integration risks before certification and production.
• Perform risk analysis, develop mitigation strategies, and communicate technical tradeoffs, schedule, and risk to program and executive leadership.

Manufacturing and Certification

• Partner with ODM, JDM, and manufacturing teams on design for manufacturability, design for assembly, engineering builds, and production readiness.
• Own system-level certification strategy across U.S. and international regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Requires 10+ years of hardware engineering experience and deep expertise in at least two of electrical, RF, or mechanical engineering domains.
• Requires ownership of system architecture and cross-disciplinary decisions for complex integrated hardware.
• Requires experience taking compact, connected, battery-powered hardware from concept through EVT, DVT, PVT, certification, mass production, and manufacturing ramp.
• Requires experience with RF and antenna integration, power, thermal management, EMI/EMC, shielding, enclosure design, and mechanical tolerances.
• Requires system requirements and validation planning experience and familiarity with U.S. and international certification requirements.
• Requires experience with ODM, JDM, or contract manufacturing partners and familiarity with relevant design, simulation, test, lifecycle, PLM, BOM, or requirements tools.

Work Location

• The position is hybrid and requires onsite work Tuesday through Friday at a regional hub in New York City, Boston, or Scottsdale, Arizona.
• Relocation assistance is available for qualified U.S.-based candidates authorized to work for a U.S. employer.
• Full-time remote eligibility may be evaluated case by case for specific needs.
• Travel is approximately 10–20%.

Compensation

• Starting base annual pay is $210,600 to $242,100, excluding annual bonuses and equity, depending on geographic market and other factors.
• Total compensation includes base salary, annual bonus, and company equity.
