Role overview
The Principal Software Engineer will lead technical development and delivery at team, lab, and sometimes platform level.
The role supports the Personalised Experiences and Communications platform, which delivers personalised customer communications and experiences across channels.
Key responsibilities
- Lead software engineering squads delivering high-quality applications and systems using AI and machine learning.
- Define roadmaps, scope, and deliverables with engineering, product, architecture, and stakeholder teams.
- Mentor engineers, troubleshoot technical issues, and deliver solutions reusable across group entities.
- Define data integration patterns, data models, and contracts and create automation for reconciliation and curation.
- Drive secure, high-quality engineering and automate recurring processes.
- Promote test-driven development, code reviews, and continuous integration and delivery.
Required qualifications
- At least 7 years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
- Hands-on experience with systems design, software development, testing, and operational stability.
- Experience with automation, CI/CD, agile methodologies, cloud platforms, distributed systems, and event-driven architecture.
