Principal Software Engineer, Backend (Go)

Role overview

Main responsibilities

• Design and build Go microservices and database schemas for the multi-tenant platform.
• Implement durable Temporal orchestration with idempotency, retries, timeouts, and deterministic workflows.
• Design public REST APIs with OpenAPI and support generated multi-language SDKs.
• Build event-driven asynchronous communication across streaming or message-broker platforms.
• Implement enterprise authentication, authorization, tenant-scoped RBAC, gateway routing, and rate limiting.
• Extend identity with SCIM provisioning and unify platform permissions with Kubernetes RBAC.
• Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests as part of every change.
• Instrument services with structured logging, metrics, and audit trails.
• Package and ship services with Docker, Helm, and Kubernetes.
• Review code, debug incidents to root cause, and add regression coverage.
• Mentor junior engineers through onboarding, design guidance, and code reviews.

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 5+ years with production Go backend services.
• Strong Go fundamentals, including concurrency, context propagation, error wrapping, and HTTP routing.
• Deep relational database experience with schemas, migrations, transactions, and query tuning.
• Experience designing versioned REST APIs and externally consumed SDKs.
• Experience with durable or event-driven asynchronous systems and retry semantics.
• Strong understanding of OIDC, JWT, RBAC, IAM, API gateways, and multi-tenant isolation.
• Production experience with Temporal is required.
• Working Kubernetes knowledge and experience with testing, Git workflows, code review, and CI/CD.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading design discussions.
• Clear written English for asynchronous work across time zones.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or 10 years of related experience.

Additional technologies and experience

• Experience with Cluster API, Kubernetes controllers, or operators.
• Experience with Keycloak realms, clients, identity providers, and token flows.
• Experience with PostgreSQL at scale and migration toolchains.
• Experience with k0s, GPU infrastructure, or AI/ML workload scheduling is advantageous.
• Experience with SCIM, sqlc, OpenAPI code generation, observability tools, Python, TypeScript, or security engineering is advantageous.
