The Cosmic and M365 Deployments team builds hyperscale cloud infrastructure powering Microsoft 365 services, including Copilot, WorkIQ, and IC3.
The team operates COSMIC, a managed container platform for cloud services, with a focus on reliability, safety, deployment velocity, and operational excellence.
The role contributes to cloud platform transformation, AI-first infrastructure, and agent-driven engineering experiences.
Responsibilities
- Drive technical strategy, architecture, and execution for hyperscale cloud platform and deployment systems.
- Lead large-scale infrastructure and platform investments.
- Build secure, scalable, reliable, and maintainable distributed systems.
- Influence engineering direction through architectural leadership and technical decisions.
- Drive automation, observability, and reliability engineering.
- Ensure security, privacy, compliance, accessibility, and service reliability standards.
- Mentor engineers and partner across Microsoft to deliver global business impact.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and at least 6 years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
- Coding experience may include C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, or other applicable languages.
- The role requires Microsoft Cloud background screening and applicable customer or government security screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with at least 12 years of software engineering experience.
- Systems thinking, architectural design, and large-scale geographically distributed engineering experience.
- Experience operating highly available distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, platform services, or developer platforms.
- Experience using AI technologies for platform and infrastructure challenges.
- Ability to mentor engineers, influence technical direction, and collaborate with global stakeholders.
