Analyze electrical loads and power usage to determine optimum performance windows
Sizing of transformers for AC and DC arc furnace applications
Consider magnetic field influences and associated grounding techniques
Review power system requirements for drive feeders and protection
Outline power regulation performance/response based on process applications
Support existing installed systems and assist customers with challenging technical issues through process knowledge, data analysis and implementation.
Complete assignments requiring development of new and/or improved engineering techniques and procedures
Interface and communicate with a local project team (project managers, engineers, support personnel) and internal experts from other areas as well as customers and suppliers to provide engineering solutions to technical issues and project-related matters
Mentor young engineers during project design and execution.

Perform on limited site commissioning and training as required
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Power Engineering
Extensive experience in an engineering role in the metals or a similar industry
Experience with automation, power and drive systems
Experience in automation practices
Demonstrates ability to apply engineering principles to the solution of design problems
Ability to work with minimal supervision and mentor less experienced personnel
Be willing to travel to support the project work
Extensive experience at data analysis and troubleshooting.
Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as excellent computer skills
