Role overview
Define and advance enterprise architecture for Northern Trust Global Engineering.
Enable system development through enterprise strategies, roadmaps, reference architectures, design patterns, standards, and governance frameworks.
Partner with executives, architects, engineering, data, security, risk, and business teams across a complex global organization.
Represent business strategy, technology evolution, and AI-enabled opportunities in systems, platforms, data architecture, and business processes.
Knowledge and skills
- Hands-on software development experience with Java/Spring, JavaScript/ReactJS, APIs, cloud-native services, and engineering automation.
- Experience with enterprise architecture patterns, capability modeling, target-state definition, architecture governance, and architecture best practices.
- Experience designing cloud-native architectures, with Azure, AWS, Tanzu, or Kubernetes preferred.
- Deep knowledge of API, microservice, data, security, and cloud architectures.
- Experience with AI architecture strategies, including generative AI, agentic AI, machine learning, model lifecycle management, prompt engineering, and retrieval-augmented generation.
- Knowledge of responsible AI, AI risk management, model governance, explainability, privacy, security controls, regulatory considerations, and production observability.
