Role overview

Principal Engineer role focused on structural engineering for gas turbine engine compressor hardware.

The position is based in Bengaluru, India, and is identified as hybrid.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the manager in developing capable structural engineers in CSE.
  • Support project execution using Engineering Standard Work.
  • Perform ANSYS finite element analysis for stress, vibration, low cycle fatigue life, and residual life prediction.
  • Prepare substantiation documentation and technical presentations for internal and external customers.
  • Drive execution efficiency and technical quality on project commitments.
  • Support planning and management of technical tasks, milestones, resources, and employee development.
  • Provide classroom and on-the-job training on structural methods, tools, and processes.
  • Coach and mentor structural engineers and interns.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve structural problems.
  • Develop improvements that advance technology and improve processes.
  • Contribute to IEC and global structural engineering discipline forums.

Basic qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 13 or more years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 11 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent structural analysis experience on compressor hardware, especially rotors, casings, and kinematics.
  • Strong technical skills in structural engineering tools and methods.
  • Effective collaboration across functions, organizations, and management levels.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Broad understanding of gas turbine engine fundamentals and associated components.
  • Results focus and disciplined execution.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience developing gas turbine engine compressor hardware is preferred.
  • Collaboration, innovation, initiative, and interest in mentoring are preferred.

Workplace

  • The role is hybrid, with regular work performed both onsite and offsite.
  • Hybrid responsibilities require onsite work on a regular basis.
