Role Overview

Principal Structural Engineer role supporting compressor structural engineering projects at RTX in Bengaluru, India.

The role is classified as hybrid, requiring regular work both onsite and offsite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform ANSYS finite element analysis for stress, vibration, low-cycle fatigue, and residual-life prediction using fracture mechanics.
  • Analyze compressor hardware, including rotors, casings, and kinematics.
  • Prepare substantiation documentation and technical presentations for internal and external customers.
  • Plan and manage technical tasks, milestones, resources, project execution, and employee development.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve structural problems and improve engineering processes.

Leadership and Development

  • Support the manager in developing highly proficient structural engineers in CSE.
  • Provide classroom and on-the-job training on structural methods, tools, and processes.
  • Coach and mentor young structural engineers and interns.
  • Contribute to PW IEC and global structural engineering discipline forums.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering plus 13 or more years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree plus 11 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent structural analysis experience on compressor hardware, especially rotors, casings, and kinematics.
  • Strong technical skills in structural engineering tools and methods.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness across functions, organizations, and management levels.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Broad understanding of gas turbine engine fundamentals and associated components.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing gas turbine engine compressor hardware.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Record of collaboration, innovation, initiative, and knowledge sharing.
  • Interest in learning, contributing new perspectives, and mentoring others.

Work Arrangement

  • This is a hybrid role in which employees work regularly both onsite and offsite.
  • Responsibilities require regular onsite work, and commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee's responsibility.
