Principal Responsibilities
- Market mapping & origination: Research and map opportunities across the Energy Transition Infrastructure (ETI) sector, with a focus on Asia Pacific and Australia.
- Network building: Build and maintain relationships with key market participants (developers, contractors, local licensed brokerage firms, banks and advisers), leveraging the wider HSBC network where appropriate.
- Deal sourcing & screening: Originate opportunities aligned to ETI strategy; perform initial screening, high-level valuation and investment rationale, and present recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Due diligence & execution management: Lead and co-ordinate diligence and execution workstreams, including external advisers, Q&A processes, timetables and deliverables.
- Financial analysis & modelling: Develop and review cash flow models and investment analysis to support investment decisions, execution, financing and exit planning.
- Governance & approvals: Prepare high-quality internal papers and support end-to-end approval processes, partnering with relevant internal functions and risk stakeholders.
- Portfolio/asset management: Provide active oversight of counterparties and/or portfolio companies, including monitoring performance, supporting follow-on capital deployment and, where relevant, contributing through shareholder/board engagement.
- ESG integration & collaboration: Embed ESG considerations throughout origination, diligence and asset management using HSBC frameworks and data; build effective working relationships across ETI, Alternatives and the broader Asset Management business to deliver strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
- Relevant sector experience in energy, infrastructure and/or renewables, gained in investment management, investment banking, advisory, legal, principal investing or similar environments.
- Strong Asia Pacific ETI market knowledge, including demonstrated understanding of the Australian market, regulatory environment and key participants.
- Established regional network across ETI stakeholders (e.g., developers, contractors, brokers, lenders, advisers) with the ability to originate and progress transactions.
- Advanced financial modelling and investment analysis skills, including cash flow modelling, valuation and ability to assess investment terms and key risks.
- Transaction and stakeholder management capability, with experience running multi-party diligence/execution processes, negotiating commercial terms and producing clear approval materials.
- Collaborative, values-led mindset, demonstrating strong teamwork across boundaries and commitment to HSBC’s values, including Sustainability and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). (Korean language capability and/or experience in additional Asia Pacific markets can be listed as an advantage if desired.)
- The chosen candidate for this role will be required to undergo enhanced vetting.
