Rocket Lab Optical Systems develops electro-optical and infrared solutions for space, terrestrial, and airborne environments.
The team serves Department of Defense and Intelligence Community customers with responsive sensing solutions across orbital domains.
Role Overview
The Principal Electrical Engineer will support development and testing of avionics hardware for electro-optical systems in Tucson, Arizona.
The role spans electrical hardware development from requirements definition through design, prototyping, fabrication, testing, and production.
The position requires technical leadership, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and hands-on ownership of high-reliability aerospace hardware.
Hardware Design and Architecture
- Provide technical leadership for the full lifecycle of avionics hardware.
- Drive architecture and technology roadmaps for electro-optical sensors across orbital domains.
- Oversee electronics integration involving FPGAs, microcontrollers, ADC/DACs, and VPX systems.
- Architect and review payload designs integrating motor controllers, processing units, imagers, and cryptographic devices.
