Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Principal Electrical Engineer role based in Abu Dhabi Emirate, United Arab Emirates.
The role leads electrical design for data centre projects, including concept, schematic, and detailed design for power distribution, backup systems, and critical infrastructure.
The position guides junior engineers, coordinates with multidisciplinary teams, and interfaces with clients, contractors, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical load calculations, equipment selection, and system coordination.
- Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Participate in design reviews, value engineering, risk assessments, commissioning, and testing activities.
- Resolve technical issues and support delivery of new and upgraded data centre facilities.
Qualifications
- Strong electrical engineering expertise and proven experience in data centre or mission-critical facility projects.
- Proficiency in medium- and low-voltage power distribution, UPS, generators, switchgear, and protection schemes.
- Knowledge of power systems, fault analysis, power quality, redundancy, and energy efficiency strategies.
- Experience applying IEC, IEEE, NEC, and other international or regional electrical codes and standards.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering or a closely related field.
- Professional registration or chartership is advantageous.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical report-writing, and English communication skills.
- Experience in construction or commissioning environments and willingness to be based in Abu Dhabi Emirate.
