Role Overview
MacroHealth is entering a pivotal transformation — advancing toward the One Marketplace vision: a unified, intelligent platform for healthcare data exchange where payers, providers, and partners can transact with clarity and confidence. Underpinning that vision is the Data Foundation, our medallion-architecture Databricks environment that governs how data is ingested, validated, and made available across the business.
The Principal Data Analyst is a newly established Individual Contributor role at the center of that strategy. This person sits within the Product triad — alongside the Product Manager and UI/UX Designer — and carries a dual mandate: to be a rigorous analytical thought partner on product decisions, and to serve as the steward of the Data Foundation as it continues to evolve.
MacroHealth's data is a high-value strategic asset. The Principal Data Analyst is responsible for protecting, developing, and leveraging that asset — ensuring data quality, lineage, and integrity are held to the standard the One Marketplace vision demands.
The right candidate brings deep institutional knowledge of healthcare claims data, strong analytical instincts, and the organizational credibility to influence how data is treated — not just reported on — across the company.

About the Role
PRODUCT PARTNERSHIP
Serve as the data voice within the Product triad (Product Manager, UX Designer, Principal Data Analyst) — ensuring product decisions are grounded in data reality
Partner with UX on data-driven design: surface patterns, identify edge cases, and validate assumptions before and after build
Translate complex healthcare data structures (claims, pharmacy, invoicing) into clear, actionable insights for product and design collaborators
Participate actively in discovery, prioritization, and roadmap discussions — not as a downstream consumer of requirements, but as a co-author
ANALYTICAL LEADERSHIP
Own end-to-end analytical workstreams from question framing through delivery — including invoicing analytics, claims data quality, and reporting product performance
Develop and maintain gold-standard analytical frameworks that other analysts build from
Identify opportunities for semi-automation, consolidation, and improved data reliability across MacroHealth, FPS, and Clear Cost Health reporting
Conduct deep-dive analyses on complex, ambiguous problems where the answer isn't known in advance
DATA FOUNDATION STEWARDSHIP & PLATFORM STANDARDS
Act as the primary steward of the MacroHealth Data Foundation — championing its continued development as the backbone of the One Marketplace platform and a high-value strategic asset
Operate fluently across the Databricks / Unity Catalog environment (prod_z1), applying and enforcing medallion architecture principles (Bronze → Silver → Gold)
Define and uphold data quality standards: own how healthcare financial fields (allowed amounts, fee structures, adjustments) are modeled, validated, and governed
Maintain and extend understanding of end-to-end data lineage — how data enters MacroHealth systems, how it transforms, and how it is consumed across reporting and product surfaces
Protect data integrity as the organization scales, ensuring the Data Foundation can support new products, new markets, and new partners without quality degradation
Support US-environment data operations including Kaiser contractual compliance-related data requirements
MENTORSHIP & INFLUENCE
Mentor and elevate the analytical capabilities of the broader Reporting & Analytics team — without formal management responsibility
Act as a thought partner to senior leadership on data strategy, analytical infrastructure, and insight delivery
Represent the data perspective in cross-functional conversations, helping non-technical stakeholders understand what the data can and cannot support
REQUIRED
8+ years of progressive analytical experience, with at least 2 years at Senior or Lead level in a data-rich environment
Deep fluency in SQL; experience with Databricks and Delta Lake / Unity Catalog strongly preferred
Strong working knowledge of healthcare claims data — medical and/or pharmacy — including ICD-10, CPT, NCPDP, and related financial fields
Demonstrated ability to own large, ambiguous analytical problems with minimal direction
Strong communication skills: able to present analytical findings to technical and non-technical audiences with equal clarity
Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, or UX — not just responding to requests, but proactively shaping them
PREFERRED
Familiarity with invoicing operations and/or healthcare fee-based revenue structures (success fees, client fees, network savings)
Experience with medallion architecture (Bronze / Silver / Gold) and enterprise data warehouse patterns
Exposure to data quality frameworks, synthetic data generation, or governance tooling
Comfort working in a Product Operating Model or agile product environment
Prior experience at a healthcare data intermediary, PBM, TPA, or analytics platform company
Why This Role, Why Now
MacroHealth is evolving from a reporting and data delivery organization into a product company built on a unified data platform — one where the Data Foundation is the engine and One Marketplace is the destination. This role exists because we believe data intelligence must be embedded in product decisions from the start, not appended afterward.
The Principal Data Analyst will have genuine influence — over analyses, over how data is governed, and over the direction of a platform that MacroHealth's long-term growth depends on. This is a rare opportunity to serve both as a practitioner and a strategic voice at a company in active transformation.
Compensation
- $180,000-215,000 annual base salary plus bonus, equity, 401k match, flexible PTO and very strong medical/dental/vision insurance package.
