Principal Consultant - Design Management

Role overview

Design oversight and coordination

• Monitor design correctness, completeness, and compliance with scope.
• Review design documents and drawings and ensure revisions are incorporated.
• Coordinate internal and external stakeholders for technical support and design validation.

Project management

• Lead design-related activities during project stages.
• Prepare and review project strategies, technical proposals, and lifecycle cost analyses.
• Attend client meetings and communicate submission milestones to team leads.
• Ensure design teams adhere to the project programme.
• Flag change requests and help form variations and extensions of time.

Technical leadership

• Propose alternative materials and systems to optimize design, operations, and maintenance.
• Conduct risk analysis and provide technical input for safety in design.
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards.

Stakeholder engagement

• Manage the IPD team across the GCC and India.
• Attend meetings with clients, consultants, and sub-consultants.
• Present technical solutions and design strategies to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
• A master's degree is preferred.
• 12 to 15 years of experience in infrastructure design management.
• Consultancy and contractor exposure is preferred.
• The candidate should be professionally qualified or progressing toward professional qualification.

Skills and competencies

• Strong understanding of infrastructure systems including roads, utilities, and structures.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and ACC.
• Strong project management and communication skills.
• Familiarity with design coordination, cost estimation, and technical documentation.
