Principal Algorithm Engineer

Overview

Location: Abu Dhabi

Embedded Software & Algorithm Development

• Design and implement embedded software at Layer 2 (MAC) within communication systems
• Develop and optimise algorithms for performance, reliability, and system efficiency
• Build low-level drivers and embedded software for ARM-based platforms (Cortex A53 / R5)
• Work within RTOS environments (FreeRTOS or similar)

System Integration & Platform Bring-Up

• Support integration and bring-up across FPGA, DSP, and CPU-based platforms
• Work closely with hardware teams to ensure seamless HW/SW interaction
• Debug and optimise system-level performance across complex embedded environments

Performance Analysis & Optimisation

• Use profiling and trace tools to analyse software behaviour on target platforms
• Identify bottlenecks and improve performance across embedded systems
• Contribute to secure boot processes and firmware integrity mechanisms

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work alongside FPGA engineers, hardware teams, and system architects
• Participate in design reviews, debugging sessions, and system integration efforts
• Support development through to testing and deployment phases

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field
• 10+ years of experience in embedded software and algorithm development
• Strong experience in C/C++ within embedded or real-time systems
• Solid understanding of Layer 2 (MAC) design and communication systems

Technical Expertise

• Experience working with ARM architectures (Cortex A53 / R5)
• Familiarity with RTOS environments (FreeRTOS, VxWorks, Embedded Linux, etc.)
• Experience with board bring-up (FPGA, DSP, CPU platforms)
• Strong debugging and profiling experience in embedded environments

Domain Experience (Preferred)

• Wireless communications (WiFi, LTE, 5G)
• SDR, SatCom, or defence communication systems
• Secure systems and firmware integrity
