Role overview

The role contributes to the design and development of power electronics products, solutions, and systems.

The engineer is accountable for work quality and operates within a defined framework with direct supervision and prescribed procedures.

Design responsibilities

  • Design LV/MV drive AC/DC systems and control cabinets according to requirements.
  • Perform sizing, hardware design, loss budget calculations, and filter and protection circuit design.
  • Use calculations, modeling, and simulations to realize product and project specifications.
  • Design equipment to meet reliability, testing, manufacturability, material, and cost guidelines.

Documentation and testing

  • Prepare and validate configurations, operating principles, application guidelines, specifications, bills of material, single-line diagrams, and drawings.
  • Verify prototype hardware under specified operating conditions.
  • Document functional test requirements and conduct tests under applicable UL and IEC standards.
  • Conduct project factory acceptance tests.

Manufacturing and project support

  • Support equipment manufacturing at factory and vendor facilities.
  • Coordinate product and project execution with the Lead Engineer and team Manager.
  • Travel as required to commission engineered projects.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
  • Two to five years of power electronics design and testing experience for industrial drives and related components.
  • Knowledge of motors and drive control systems is required.
  • Experience in renewables, oil and gas, marine, or metal processing is preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, EPLAN, or MATLAB/Simulink is preferred.
  • Relevant internship completion is an added advantage.
