Cleans a variety of assigned areas such as food preparation and service areas, restrooms, equipment, and furniture and furnishings.
Stores/stocks, inventories, and delivers e.g., supplies and equipment including foodstuffs, prescriptions, and linens to their appropriate destinations.
Operates various equipment and machinery which may include maintaining and operating autoclaves in the sterilization of containers and utensils, vacuum cleaners, floor polishers, and office equipment. Makes minor repairs.
Runs errands such as picking up and delivering forms, lists, reports, and so forth.
Transports soiled and clean linen to and from the laundry area; sorts and weighs linens; loads and unloads washers and dryers; keeps daily records of various laundry functions.
Moves a variety of items such as furniture and furnishings and trash containers.
Demonstrates effective judgment and ability to understand, react competently, and treat (if appropriate) the unique needs of patient age groups served.

High school graduate and/or GED equivalent.
Some familiarity with custodial and cleaning methods.
Ability to read and write sufficiently to perform the duties of the position.
Ability to learn the methods, practices, techniques and procedures peculiar to the position. Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.
Ability to work harmoniously with fellow workers and others.
Ability and willingness to work in a manner that will not endanger the safety of one's self, other persons, and equipment.
Sufficient strength to perform moderate to heavy lifting, carrying and routine custodial tasks.
