- Maintain good relationships with all employees
- Oversee navigation systems and ensure they are up to date
- Participate and ensure all required training is up to date onboard vessels
- Ensure the vessel stays within budget
- Troubleshoot vessel based and crew issues
- Provide managerial oversight for vessel and crew performance
- Represent Kirby at industry committee meetings and seminars
- Participate in incident response and review
Requirements
- Minimum five years experience in the towing industry
- Prior management experience required
- High school diploma or GED
- Tankerman License and USCG Master of Towing License or equivalent preferred
- Valid driver's license and good driving record

Overview
- Provide shoreside support to vessel crewmembers regarding all aspects of their operation.
Responsibilities
- Vessel management: Selects, trains, evaluates, and supervises vessel managers and their subordinates. Builds crews based on experience and scheduling.
- Compliance: Ensures vessels comply with company policies and governmental regulations.
- Safety: Develops and implements policies and procedures to improve safety and efficiency. Ensures crews are qualified and sufficient in size, proper equipment is on board, and captain is doing their job.
- Public relations: Maintains good relationships with all employees.
- Navigation: Oversees navigation systems and ensures they are up to date.
- Training: Participate and ensure all required training is up to date onboard vessels.
- Budgeting: Ensures the vessel stays within budget.
- Troubleshooting: Troubleshoots vessel based and crew issues.
- Provide managerial oversight for all activities associated with vessel and crew performance.
- Represent Kirby at industry committee meetings and seminars.
- Participate in incident response and review.
- Attend and assist in internal and external audits of vessels.
Qualifications
- Minimum five years experience in the towing industry.
- Prior management experience required.
- Tankerman License and USCG OUTV License or equivalent preferred.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Tankerman License and USCG Master of Towing License or equivalent preferred.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Travel required.
- On call on a rotating basis.
