The Policy Manager, West supports efforts to influence and establish state and regional policy to advance Rewiring America’s mission. Policy campaign execution:
Work with a Senior Manager of Regional Policy to plan and execute policy campaigns in priority states.
Become and serve as the expert at Rewiring on the policy and political landscape of identified priority states in the Western region.
Cultivate relationships with diverse external partners and provide thought leadership in a variety of external settings, ranging from coalition meetings and speaking engagements to policy decision-making venues (e.g. testifying on a priority bill).

Support grant reporting requirements through systematic documentation of policy developments.
Policy analysis and research:
Track upcoming regulatory and legislative actions and opportunities that can affect and/or advance Rewiring’s mission.
Conduct research and analysis to identify and develop specific policy recommendations and initiatives in identified priority states within the Western region.
Identify gaps and opportunities in existing electrification policies, suggesting pathways to enhance outcomes in the implementation phase.
Cultivate deep subject matter expertise on strategic and timely topics to advance the broader objectives of the State and Regional Policy team.
Work with colleagues to evaluate emerging policies, technologies, and other developments. Communicate findings succinctly in fact sheets, memos, and other written formats.

The successful candidate demonstrates enthusiasm for making electrification easy, affordable, and equitable, and models excellence and integrity in all they do. The selected candidate will also possess the following Core and Preferred qualifications and characteristics:
Core:
6+ years of relevant legislative work experience, including direct policy and advocacy work in climate, building electrification, environmental justice, and/or other related topics.
Strong commitment to the mission, policies, and goals of Rewiring America.
Previous work experience and established connections in at least two of the three states: Colorado, Oregon, and/or Washington
Critical thinking with exceptional writing and communication skills, including the ability to distill complicated information for different audiences.
Highly organized in project management, adept at collaborating with various stakeholders, both internally and externally.
Familiarity with technology to support remote teamwork.
Preferred:
Knowledge of policies and approaches that accelerate the deployment of distributed energy resources and make building electrification more affordable.
Residence within the Western Region of the U.S., ideally in Colorado, Oregon, or Washington at the time of employment and willingness to travel within the Western region for key legislative meetings, lobby days, and conferences.
Experience working with diverse advocacy coalitions.
Experience working in a fast-paced, action-oriented setting with tight deadlines.
Advanced degree or equivalent work experience in public administration, public policy, political science, law, economics, or a related field.
Familiarity with collaboration tools such as Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, and Asana.
