Role Description
The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing manufacturing operations, production performance, and facility management to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective plant operations.
This leadership role focuses on production planning, operational excellence, workforce management, quality control, maintenance coordination, and continuous improvement while supporting organizational productivity and business growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Managing daily plant operations, production schedules, manufacturing workflows, and operational performance activities
- Monitoring production KPIs, output efficiency metrics, downtime indicators, quality standards, safety compliance outcomes, and cost performance measures
- Collaborating with engineering, maintenance, logistics, procurement, quality assurance, HR, and executive teams on operational initiatives
- Developing and implementing operational strategies, process optimization programs, and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing functions
- Managing workforce planning, employee performance, training coordination, and operational leadership activities within the plant environment
- Ensuring compliance with workplace safety regulations, environmental standards, quality management systems, and operational governance requirements
- Supporting preventive maintenance programs, equipment reliability initiatives, and infrastructure improvement projects
- Preparing operational reports, production analysis, and strategic recommendations for management review
- Driving process improvement, lean manufacturing, automation, and operational efficiency initiatives across plant operations
- Managing budgets, inventory coordination, production resources, and vendor relationships to optimize plant performance
- Supporting business continuity planning, operational risk management, and crisis response coordination activities
- Staying updated on manufacturing technologies, industrial automation trends, sustainability practices, and operational excellence methodologies
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field
- MBA or certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, PMP, or equivalent are advantageous
- 7–15 years of experience in plant operations, manufacturing management, production leadership, or industrial operations roles
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, quality management, maintenance operations, and operational governance methodologies
- Experience managing large-scale manufacturing teams, plant performance programs, and operational transformation initiatives
- Familiarity with ERP systems, MES platforms, CMMS systems, and industrial automation technologies is advantageous
- Excellent leadership, analytical, and strategic problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple operational priorities and plant-wide initiatives effectively
- Experience in manufacturing, logistics, automotive, FMCG, pharmaceuticals, energy, construction materials, or industrial production environments is an advantage
