The Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records.

Pharmacy Technicians work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.

They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.

• Replenishes floor stock medications on nursing units accurately, fills floor stock requests accurately and maintains appropriate documentation
• Identifies medications no longer in use in the Operating Room, returns medications to pharmacy, and appropriately manages such medications
• Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals and supplies in appropriate locations
• Rotates stock to ensure use before expiration date
• Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation accurately. Files documentation in appropriate locations
• Completes and documents monthly inspections of all assigned medication storage areas in a timely and comprehensive manner. Inspection assignments are completed without supervisor intervention
