Preparing prescriptions (gathering data from nursing staff) to be filled via dispensary software
Processing, adjudicating, dispensing, and filling prescriptions
Receiving stock and putting away stock to drug shelves
Efficiently count, measure, package and label prescriptions
May be required to mix, reconstitute, or compound prescriptions under pharmacist’s supervision
May be required to operate automated dispensing machine (PacMed)
Prepare daily deliveries and weekly deliveries to care facilities and retirement homes
Assist in maintaining and monitoring pharmacy inventory
Manage returns and expired products from nursing homes, include unpacking, sorting and disposal, at the same time keeping working space clean and tidy
Organize and file prescriptions and other related clerical/administrative task
Maintain supplies and consumables stock levels and order when required
Assist with other pharmacy operations as required and within your scope
Consult with members of the pharmacy management team when there are unresolved issues surrounding day to day work functions
Post-Secondary education
Pharmacy Assistant experience preferred but not required
Experience in Long Term Care Pharmacy is a strong asset but not required
Experience in operating PacMed automated dispensing machine is a strong asset but not required
Ability to work both in a team and independently in a fast-paced environment
