Responsibilities
- Develop and implement permitting strategies, policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance frameworks aligned with organizational objectives and project requirements
- Lead end to end permitting activities, including permit planning, application preparation, submission, tracking, approvals, renewals, amendments, and closeout processes
- Collaborate with engineering, construction, architecture, environmental, legal, project management, operations, government relations, and executive leadership teams to support project delivery and regulatory compliance
- Serve as the primary liaison with government agencies, municipalities, regulatory authorities, utility providers, and external consultants throughout the permitting lifecycle
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including permit approval timelines, application success rates, regulatory compliance, project milestone achievement, permit renewal completion, and stakeholder satisfaction
- Review technical drawings, engineering documents, environmental assessments, site plans, construction documentation, and permit applications to ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance
- Identify permitting risks, regulatory changes, approval constraints, and project dependencies while developing proactive mitigation strategies to minimize delays and operational impacts
- Coordinate environmental, zoning, land use, utility, occupancy, fire safety, transportation, and infrastructure approvals as required for project execution
- Ensure compliance with local, regional, and national regulations, building codes, environmental legislation, health and safety requirements, and organizational governance policies
- Utilize ERP systems, permit tracking platforms, GIS, project management software, Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, and analytics tools to monitor permitting activities and performance
- Prepare permitting reports, regulatory compliance dashboards, approval status updates, executive presentations, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop permitting specialists, regulatory coordinators, project support staff, and cross functional teams while fostering a culture of compliance, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Architecture, Public Administration, Real Estate Development, or a related field preferred
- Master's degree or professional certifications such as PMP, CCM, LEED Accreditation, or equivalent are advantageous
- 5+ years of experience in permitting, regulatory affairs, construction, engineering, infrastructure development, environmental compliance, or related roles
- 2+ years of experience managing permitting programs, regulatory approval processes, or multidisciplinary project teams preferred
- Strong understanding of permitting processes, zoning regulations, land use planning, environmental compliance, building codes, infrastructure approvals, and government regulatory requirements
- Experience with permit management systems, GIS platforms, ERP systems, project management software, Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, document management systems, and regulatory tracking tools
- Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, negotiation, project management, and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, regulatory liaison, presentation, and cross functional collaboration abilities
- Ability to manage multiple permitting processes while balancing regulatory compliance, project schedules, operational efficiency, and business objectives
- Ability to work independently in on site and hybrid environments with travel to project sites and regulatory offices as required

The Role
