The Partial Discharge (PD) Engineer is responsible for carrying out condition monitoring and partial discharge testing on electrical transmission and distribution substations.
The role ensures the safe, accurate, and timely execution of diagnostic testing activities in accordance with approved procedure, industry standards. while maintaining the highest standards of safety and equipment integrity.
Perform partial discharge (PD) testing and condition monitoring on electrical transmission and distribution substations.
Execute inspection and testing activities in accordance with approved method statements and project specifications.
Work under the direction and supervision of the Team Leader.
Apply appropriate PD detection techniques and diagnostic methods to identify equipment defects and assess asset condition.
Analyse test results and report abnormalities, defects, or unusual conditions to the Team Leader without delay.
Ensure all testing activities comply with applicable safety regulations, procedures, and permit-to-work requirements for high-voltage installations.
Protect assets by preventing damage to plant and equipment during testing and maintenance activities.
Maintain accurate records, test reports, and supporting documentation.
Use and maintain testing instruments and equipment in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations.

Full-time Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university, college, or institution.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in condition monitoring of electrical transmission and distribution substations.
Proven experience in partial discharge testing and electrical asset diagnostics.
Sound understanding of high-voltage electrical systems and substation equipment.
Knowledge and Skills: Proficiency in various partial discharge detection methods and diagnostic techniques.
Strong knowledge of electrical condition monitoring practices.
Good understanding of high-voltage safety procedures and risk management.
Ability to interpret test results and prepare technical reports.
Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for electrical asset condition assessment.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Certifications: Relevant certification(s) and specialized training in Partial Discharge testing and condition monitoring.
Additional certifications in electrical safety or related disciplines are advantageous.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE): Demonstrate full compliance with all health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Maintain awareness of hazards and risks associated with high-voltage installations.
Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and equipment abnormalities immediately to the Team Leader.
Ensure all work is carried out without causing damage to plant, equipment, or property.
Follow approved work procedures, permit-to-work systems, and safety guidelines at all times.
