Responsibilities
- Prepare high-quality, nutritious meals according to the menu plan and Ministry of LTC requirements
- Ensure meals are an experience rather than a task
- Follow cleaning procedures established by the Food Services Manager
- Maintain a safe working environment
- Assist in the First in First Out process of food and supply products
- Work collaboratively with all Food Services and other departments associates
- Perform any and all other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Food Handlers Certification or equivalent experience in institutional, healthcare, or hospitality cooking
- Minimum 3-5 years of related experience in long term care, retirement, hospital, or hotel setting
- Knowledge of special and therapeutic diets
- Familiarity with weights and measurements, recipe conversion, and portion control
- Knowledge of Ontario Food Premises Regulation and Canada’s Food Guide
- Mentally and physically able to perform duties as assigned
- Clear vulnerable sector screening (within last 6 months), recent TB test results (within last 6 months) or Chest X-Ray (within last 1 year), and two supervisory references
