Part Time Cook

Qualifications

• Has or is working towards the Food Handlers Certification provided by Public health or certified agencies, or in the reasonable opinion of the Home, have appropriate skills, knowledge and experience in the fields of institutional, health care, restaurant or hospitality cooking to perform the duties
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in long term care, retirement, hospital or hotel setting.
• Knowledge of special and therapeutic diets.
• Familiar with weights and measurements, recipe conversion and portion control.
• Knowledge of Ontario Food Premises Regulation and Canada’s Food Guide.
• Mentally and physically able to perform duties as assigned.
• Organizational and time-management skills.
• Individual and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work within a team while recognising the skills and abilities of others.
• Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
• Clear vulnerable sector screening (within last 6 months), recent TB test results (within last 6 months) or Chest X-Ray (within last 1 yr), and two supervisory references required.
