Position Duties

• Apply paint to surfaces including canvas, walls, floors, doors, and cabinets. Scrape, sandpaper, prime or seal surfaces prior to painting. Erect scaffolding, movable, and immovable staging and various rigging to gain access to difficult areas; move furniture and equipment as needed. Utilize spray guns for large jobs. Work on ladders to reach high ceilings or walls. Perform related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Under direct supervision, the incumbent will be responsible for mixing, matching, and applying paint to various surfaces. Completing touch-ups, and coordinating large painting projects. Minimum High School Diploma or GED. Must possess a valid Mississippi Driver's License. Five to 10 years of progressive experience as a painter. Thorough knowledge of tools, application methods, and standard trade safety practices. Complete knowledge of the proper handling, mixing, and disposal of toxic and potentially hazardous materials. Must have the physical ability to climb ladders, scaffolding and work in sometimes physically strenuous places and positions.
