As a Relief Worker, you will be a front-line team member helping provide a safe and caring environment for individuals accessing shelter and detox services. The primary responsibility is to ensure that client's needs are assessed and met appropriately while clients are visiting our shelter. Working in a fast paced, high impact environment, you will:
Complete admissions and discharges for individuals under the influence of drugs and or alcohol
Monitor client safety and well being, including withdrawal symptoms and overall condition
Respond to crisis situations such as overdoses, seizures, and conflicts, with a focus on de escalation
Interact with clients in a respectful, compassionate, and non-judgmental manner
Provide information on treatment options and connect clients with appropriate resources
After 90 days of supporting our Shelter and Detox, you can be trained and work on the HELP team and our Housing programs, as well as look into our full-time positions.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and the ability to work effectively with vulnerable populations. You bring:
A non-judgmental approach, with a high degree of compassion and empathy.
Understanding of Housing First, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care philosophies.
Knowledge and awareness of community resources, social service programs, and housing systems within Calgary.
Strong crisis management, rapport-building, and advocacy skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and strong organizational abilities.
Experience with individuals who have addictions and or are homeless would be an asset
