Responsibilities
- Evaluate nutritional status of patients by reviewing pertinent information from electronic medical record and interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Provide individualized counseling to patients and caregivers, including management of food drug interactions, therapeutic diets, and supplements
- Conduct nutrition focused physical exams to determine risk and/or degree of malnutrition
- Document all encounters in the electronic health record per Clinical Nutrition policy
- Coordinate projects and activities including nutrition related in services, interdepartmental nutrition education programs, lectures, community focused programs and external speaking events
- Precept dietetic interns and instruct them on competencies required to complete their assigned rotation
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution with completion of ACEND accredited dietetic internship
- 3+ years of clinical experience
- Registered Dietitian (RD) from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
- Certified Dietitian Nutritionist (CDN) from the NYS Department of Education Office of the Professions required or process initiated upon hire

Job Description
- The Clinical Nutrition Coordinator provides quality nutrition care and education to patients and family members, under the direction of the Director of Clinical Nutrition.
- Coordinates departmental initiatives and education programs. Maintains level of clinical expertise for assigned area, and recommends the appropriate nutrition therapy as it pertains to the patients nutritional needs.
- Acts as a resource to all clinical staff and provides feedback for their professional development.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates advanced practice in clinical focus area. Exhibits advanced knowledge and skills, seeking out professional development and educational opportunities to further expertise.
- Evaluates the nutritional status of the patients by reviewing pertinent information obtained from the electronic medical record and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Provides individualized counseling to patients and caregivers, including management of food drug interactions, therapeutic diets, and supplements.
- Conducts nutrition focused physical exams, as indicated, to determine risk and/or degree of malnutrition.
- Documents all encounters in the electronic health record per Clinical Nutrition policy.
- Completes necessary paperwork to support insurance billing/reimbursement process.
- Completes and maintains administrative records, including productivity, annual competencies, and other documentation of direct and non direct patient care functions.
- Functions as a vital part of the multidisciplinary team in designated practice, actively engages in discussions regarding the nutrition care of patients.
- Coordinates projects and activities, including nutrition related in services, interdepartmental nutrition education programs, lectures, community focused programs and external speaking events.
- Assists with care of patients on home nutrition support.
- Demonstrates leadership through the coordination and implementation of initiatives that promote nutrition services in the practice.
- Coordinates quality assurance monitoring and reporting activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution, with completion of ACEND accredited dietetic internship.
- 3+ years of clinical experience
- Registered dietitian (RD) from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required
- Certified Dietitian Nutritionist (CDN) from the NYS Department of Education Office of the Professions required or process initiated upon hire.
- Advanced Certification, i.e. Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC), and/or Pediatric/Renal/Oncology Specialty encouraged, but not required
Compensation
- The salary range for the role is $65885 $98280 Annually.
