The OSP Engineer is responsible for the technical design, project coordination and field supervision of Outside Plant (OSP) infrastructure.
This role requires a technical lead capable of managing civil works specifications and supervising the actual implementation of fiber infrastructure.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3 years in OSP engineering with a focus on the marine to terrestrial interface. This must include experience with Cable Landing Station (CLS) site preparation and specialized protective measures like articulated piping or seawall penetrations. Must have experience with specialized landing manholes, shore end protection and diverse routing to the station.
- Proven track record in managing civil engineering scopes for telecom, specifically Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD), complex trenching (terrestrial and shore-end), vault construction and the development of diversity routing to ensure network resilience.
- Must be proficient in high fiber count cable management and optical link budget optimization.
- Extensive field experience supervising subcontractors and internal teams during the deployment phase, ensuring strict adherence to technical specifications, health and safety (HSE) standards and environmental regulations.
- Experience in managing Right of Way (RoW) acquisitions, environmental impact assessments and coordinating with maritime and municipal authorities for infrastructure permitting will be referred.
Technical Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Familiarity with international standards including ITU-T (G.652D, G.654 for subsea/long-haul), Telcordia (GR-XXX) and BICSI/TIA OSP design guidelines.
- Skilled on AutoCAD and GIS platforms for route planning and as-built documentation.
- Working knowledge of project management frameworks (PMP or PRINCE2) will be preferred.
