Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive eye care, including outpatient consultations, diagnostic assessments, and medical and surgical management of ocular conditions.
- Review patient histories, perform eye examinations, interpret diagnostic tests, recommend treatment plans, and conduct procedures such as cataract and other anterior segment surgeries as appropriate.
- Collaborate with optometrists, nurses, and other specialists, document care in medical records, and participate in clinical meetings and quality improvement activities.
- Maintain high standards of patient safety, adhere to hospital policies and regulatory requirements, and contribute to patient education and counseling.
Requirements
- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and completed residency training in Ophthalmology from a recognized institution.
- Valid ophthalmology board certification or equivalent, and eligibility for licensing with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
- Demonstrated experience in diagnosing and managing a broad range of ophthalmic conditions, including experience with common ophthalmic procedures and surgeries (e.g., cataract surgery).
- Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and commitment to evidence based practice and patient safety.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, with respectful and clear communication with colleagues, patients, and families.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate electronic medical records and using relevant diagnostic equipment and technologies.
- Willingness to participate in on call duties, clinical audits, and continuous professional development activities.
- Fluency in English required; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
- Previous experience in a hospital or tertiary care setting in the Gulf region is a plus.
