Position Overview
SPIE Global Services Energy has an opportunity for an Operator - Utilities in Doha, Qatar.
The role supports maintenance and operation of a large industrial area associated with an oil and gas project.
The assignment involves multidisciplinary utility operations and maintenance activities.
Contract Details
- The contract is a temporary work contract.
- The position is full time.
- The contract length is six months.
Main Duties
- Perform utility operation jobs and ensure plant operations are maintained safely.
- Carry out plant isolation and de-isolation activities.
- Operate the wastewater treatment plant and monitor potable water, sewage, industrial water, and landscaping networks.
- Prepare chemicals and conduct related operational activities.
- Carry out cleaning activities and maintain good housekeeping.
- Coordinate and handle non-routine and emergency work.
- Ensure operational requirements and safety and environmental standards are met.
- Maintain safety standards in the maintenance section and comply with permit to work procedures.
Candidate Profile
- At least 6 years of relevant experience is required.
- A diploma in engineering or a trade certificate with experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, or a similar facility is preferred.
- Experience in water and chemical analysis is required.
- Candidates must understand and communicate in English.
- Experience operating pumps, diesel engines, generators, compressors, blowers, piping, valves, and wastewater treatment plants is required.
- Familiarity with plant isolation, lockout and tagging, and permit to work procedures is required.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with MS Office packages are required.
- Gulf experience is preferred.
- Experience with DCS is preferred.

- Written and verbal communication, active listening, editing, organization, time management, attention to detail, and problem-solving are identified as relevant skills.
- Safe work culture and practices are important abilities for the position.
- The role requires good spoken English and familiarity with operational safety procedures.
