About the Role
NOVA Chemicals is hiring an Operations Technician for its Corunna, ON site to safely operate and maintain the facility on a continuous basis. The role requires a Chemical Production & Power Engineering Technology diploma or equivalent, with a minimum 4th Class Operating Engineer certification.

Responsibilities
- Operate the unit safely, efficiently, and cost effectively, troubleshooting operating issues
- Adhere to all safe work practices, policies, and procedures
- Monitor and operate process systems and associated equipment through DCS
- Prepare equipment for maintenance and issue Safe Work Permits
- Maintain effective communication with shift team and review logs
- Monitor safety conditions and take appropriate action to resolve issues
- Complete accurate Operations Log entries
- Progress through required training and development to achieve full proficiency
Requirements
- Chemical Production & Power Engineering Technology (CPET) or equivalent technical school diploma
- Minimum 4th Class Operating Engineer certification (TSSA)
- Ability to obtain 3rd Class TSSA Operating Engineer certification within 36 months
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to work a rotating shift schedule
- Demonstrated commitment to Responsible Care principles
- Proven ability to learn and apply new technical concepts
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Effective communication skills
- Valid driver's license

Job Overview
- The primary focus is to safely and reliably operate and maintain the facility on a continuous basis.
- The successful candidate will progress through the Process Operations progression program and achieve required certifications.
You Will Use Your Expertise To
- Perform all duties in accordance with job requirements of the assigned area.
- Operate the unit safely, efficiently, and cost effectively with troubleshooting ability.
- Adhere to all NOVA Chemicals safe work practices, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor and operate process systems and associated equipment through DCS.
- Review weekly schedules and Detailed Operating Instructions to support safe work permits.
- Maintain effective communication with the shift team and review logs.
- Prepare equipment for maintenance and issue Safe Work Permits.
- Communicate schedule changes and operational impacts in a timely manner.
- Monitor safety conditions, identify concerns, and take appropriate action.
- Ensure procedures are followed and identify required updates.
- Complete accurate Operations Log entries.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards and proactively identify resource needs.
What We Are Looking For
- Chemical Production & Power Engineering Technology (CPET) or equivalent technical school diploma with minimum 4th Class Operating Engineer certification (TSSA).
- Ability to obtain 3rd Class TSSA Operating Engineer certification within 36 months.
- Strong computer skills.

Additional Information
- Relocation will not be considered.
- Compensation commensurate with education and experience.
- Seven day (including weekends and holidays), twelve hour rotating days/nights schedule.
- Work conducted both indoors and outdoors in all seasons.
- Duties include standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, lifting, and climbing ladders.
- Overtime and callouts required due to 24 hour plant operation.
- Must be physically able to wear respiratory protective equipment.
- Valid driver's license required.
