Our gas transmission network is essential to connecting homes, businesses and industry with the energy they need. As an Operations Technician, you'll help keep critical infrastructure operating safely, reliably and efficiently, ensuring our assets continue to perform at their best.
This role combines hands-on technical expertise with a strong commitment to safety, operational excellence and continuous improvement. Your contribution will support both day-to-day operations and the successful delivery of future network developments, helping us maintain a secure and resilient energy system.
Carrying out installation, inspection, commissioning, maintenance, fault-finding and repair activities on instrumentation systems and associated plant equipment.
Supporting the safe operation of terminals, compressor stations, pipelines and AGIs by following established policies, procedures and safe systems of work.
Issuing permits, implementing isolations and contributing to the safe control of operations for both internal teams and contractors.
Maintaining accurate maintenance, asset and operational records to ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
Supporting the construction, commissioning and integration of new assets, as well as identifying opportunities for equipment upgrades and improvements.
Participating in emergency response activities, standby rotas and incident management arrangements to support business resilience.
Monitoring contractor activities and protecting pipeline assets to ensure technical, operational and safety standards are consistently maintained.
This role would suit someone who enjoys combining hands-on instrumentation expertise with problem-solving in a critical operational environment. You'll be motivated by working on complex assets, maintaining the highest safety standards and playing a key role in keeping essential energy infrastructure running reliably
Possess proven maintenance and operational knowledge and experience gained within a relevant engineering discipline of Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Electronics or Control Systems
Undertaking maintenance, fault diagnosis and rectification work within the Oil & Gas (or other similar Process) Industry within relevant discipline
Undertaking inspection work on equipment installed in hazardous areas and Operating, controlling and undertaking work within Safe Systems of Work
Understanding of relevant discipline and Health & Safety Legislative Requirements
Operation and control of process plant and equipment
Possess relevant Training Certification and/or Evidence of Competencies to support knowledge and experience
Time-served Apprenticeship (or other recognised Training Scheme) in a relevant engineering discipline (Instrumentation)
BTEC National Certificate (or equivalent City & Guilds, NVQ/SVQ Level 3) in relevant engineering discipline
Valid current driving licence
Electrical – Compex EX01 - 04 Hazardous Equipment ,
