Role Overview

  • As an Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading the day to day operations of the Central Edging Facility (CEF), ensuring efficiency, quality, and service excellence across all operational activities.
  • You will play a critical role in optimizing workflows, supervising and developing the CEF team, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring the timely processing and delivery of customer orders.
  • Combining strong leadership with analytical capabilities, you will use operational data and insights to monitor performance, improve processes, and support the achievement of business objectives.

Operations Management

  • You oversee the daily operations of the Central Edging Facility, ensuring smooth execution of all activities.
  • You organize workflows and allocate resources effectively based on operational priorities and workload.
  • You set team objectives and monitor performance in alignment with company goals.
  • You ensure all jobs are processed according to the First Come, First Serve (FCFS) principle.
  • You lead regular team meetings, communicate priorities, and follow up on agreed actions.
  • You identify opportunities to improve operational processes and implement solutions that enhance efficiency and service delivery.

Quality & Service Excellence

  • You ensure compliance with ZEISS global quality standards and operational procedures.
  • You oversee quality control activities and maintain accurate quality reporting.
  • You monitor turnaround times and delivery performance to ensure customer commitments are consistently achieved.
  • You investigate operational issues and implement corrective actions to maintain high service standards.
  • You support the team in adhering to established operating procedures and best practices.

CEF Laboratory Leadership

  • You lead, coach, and develop the CEF team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • You monitor laboratory workflows, tray assignments, and job distribution across edging lines.
  • You oversee daily laboratory activities, ensuring accurate execution and maintenance of operational records.
  • You manage administrative and technical issues impacting laboratory performance.
  • You ensure the proper maintenance, calibration, and use of laboratory equipment and tools.
  • You oversee the availability and timely replenishment of consumables, supplies, and operational resources.

Inventory & Supply Chain Management

  • You optimize inventory levels through effective planning and monitoring of stock requirements.
  • You analyse consumption trends and coordinate replenishment activities to prevent stock shortages.
  • You monitor fast moving products and ensure appropriate inventory coverage.
  • You oversee the processing and placement of incoming stock within agreed timelines.
  • You lead inventory count activities and ensure the accuracy and integrity of inventory records.
  • You investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

Logistics, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • You coordinate logistics activities, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
  • You monitor operational performance and prepare reports using Excel and Power BI.
  • You ensure the timely and accurate submission of operational reports and data.
  • You provide operational insights to support forecasting and planning activities.
  • You contribute to operational projects and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Safety & Compliance

  • You ensure all activities comply with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • You promote a culture of safety and maintain a clean, organised working environment.
  • You identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • You support regular safety reviews and compliance activities to maintain a safe workplace.

Required Knowledge & Experience

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Optical Dispensing, Optometry, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience within optical operations, customer service, laboratory operations, or operational leadership environments.
  • Experience managing teams, coordinating workflows, and driving operational performance.
  • Strong understanding of optical fitting processes, lens types, and frame adjustments is advantageous.
  • Experience managing inventory, logistics, and service delivery activities.
  • Experience using reporting and analytical tools to support decision making and performance monitoring.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer focused mindset.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem solving abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
