Position Overview
The Operations Manager at the Langley Bypass is responsible for safe operations, operational excellence, food safety, and continuous improvement.
The role supports high-quality, high-volume production while upholding Grupo Bimbo standards for safety, quality, and sustainability.
Safety Leadership
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation, Grupo Bimbo safety standards, and local regulations.
- Manage safety programs and drive risk identification and mitigation through observations, audits, investigations, and action plans.
Food Safety and Quality
- Adhere to global food safety and quality standards, GMPs, and sanitation protocols.
- Drive process control, standard work, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and compliance with audits and certifications.
Operational Excellence
- Lead facility transformation by establishing high-performance standards, accountability, and sustainable results improvement.
- Develop frontline leaders through coaching, problem solving, and accountability to standards.
- Achieve production targets through resource management, waste reduction, performance metrics, and data analytics.
- Support Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, and Kaizen programs to improve productivity and reduce costs.
People and Labour Relations
- Lead and mentor production supervisors and hourly associates while fostering accountability and collaboration.
- Maintain positive labour relations, comply with the collective agreement, and resolve conflicts constructively.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, and Sanitation teams to ensure seamless operations.
- Support asset management, preventive maintenance, and reliability initiatives.
Experience and Education
- Post-secondary education in Operations Management, Engineering, Food Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Formal technical baking education, such as AIB Certification, is a strong asset.
- At least five years of management and supervisory experience; unionized manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Proven experience in food processing or related industries, with an emphasis on high-volume production.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of food safety regulations, GMPs, Lean, and Six Sigma.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with ERP systems.
- Strong communication, leadership, mentoring, decision-making, adaptability, and resilience skills.
- Ability to foster positive labour relations and manage complex operational challenges.
Compensation
- Annual salary range is $90,000 to $135,000, excluding discretionary bonus compensation and benefits.
- Actual compensation may vary based on location, experience, education, skills, and other factors.
