Role Overview
The client is seeking an Open Source Software Developer to work on a contract basis.
The role focuses on active GitHub contributions, pull request reviews, and collaboration with engineering teams to improve code quality.
The position requires consistent engagement with open-source projects and repositories relevant to the client’s technical stack.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and merge pull requests in GitHub repositories to ensure code quality standards are met.
- Fix bugs, add features, and optimize performance in open-source projects.
- Align contributions with project roadmaps and technical requirements through engineering collaboration.
- Monitor repository activity, address issues, and maintain contributor documentation.
- Provide code review feedback that improves maintainability, security, and scalability.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proficiency in Git and GitHub workflows, including branching, merging, and pull requests.
- Experience contributing to open-source projects or maintaining public repositories.
- Strong understanding of version control systems and collaborative software development.
- Ability to write, debug, and optimize code in relevant programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java, or C++.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
Compensation
- Contract payout is $50 to $150 per hour.
