Location and Schedule

  • The position is based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, with a hybrid work arrangement.
  • The schedule is 40 hours per week, with an office physical environment.
  • Occasional domestic or international travel may be required, including access to government facilities and assets.

Position Summary

The Obsolescence Specialist provides Integrated Logistic Support engineering and analysis focused on software application-level obsolescence.

The role covers logistic support analysis, dependability, maintenance planning, technical documentation, publications, and training for obsolescence concerns.

Obsolescence Management

  • Develop, maintain, and implement the Obsolescence Management Plan.
  • Define software dependencies and obsolescence information for prioritized configuration items in the System Breakdown Structure.
  • Track software versions, operating systems, compute resources, drivers, hardware, licensing changes, patching cycles, and obsolescence waivers.
  • Create engineering artefacts for continuous tracking within a Collaborative Work Environment.

Coordination and Reporting

  • Coordinate technical inputs from internal and external teams through the Authorized Technical Representative.
  • Schedule inputs, manage delivery risks, and participate in risk review meetings.
  • Implement approved changes, validate documentation updates, determine baselines, and provide updated documentation to the client.
  • Prepare monthly progress reports, supervise team activities, and host monthly obsolescence meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or a Technologist Diploma.
  • At least five years of demonstrated experience performing Integrated Logistic Support activities.
  • Proficiency in Excel data management and Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of application licensing, version control, change management, legacy systems, software vendors, and infrastructure software deployment.
  • Experience interfacing with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project management experience.
  • Previous experience working with a defense contract.
  • Experience supporting an operational military asset.

Regulatory Access

  • Applicants must be eligible or able to obtain authorization to access hardware, software, or technical information controlled under applicable Canadian or US export and security regulations.

Pay Transparency

  • Anticipated total target compensation, including annual salary and bonus eligibility, is $85,000 to $125,000 CAD annually.
