Role Profile

Business and Delivery

• Immerse in operations to develop domain expertise and translate effectively between business and engineering.
• Mentor engineers on domain immersion and influence senior stakeholders across competing agendas.
• Lead rapid delivery initiatives, coach prototype-first approaches, and build complete applications across technology stacks.
• Define criteria for transitioning prototypes into production.

Generative AI

• Architect RAG systems for complex use cases using hybrid search, reranking, and query expansion.
• Mentor engineers on RAG best practices and establish RAG standards across teams.
• Lead evaluation strategy through annotation guidelines, human-calibrated LLM judges, and evaluation pipelines.

People and AI-Augmented Development

• Build high-performing teams, navigate interpersonal dynamics, foster psychological safety, and value diverse perspectives.
• Influence through communication from frontline employees to executives and handle difficult conversations.
• Optimize AI tool usage, train engineers on agentic workflows, evaluate new tools, and balance AI speed with verification rigor.

Scale, Documentation, and Reliability

• Design complex multi-component systems, evaluate architecture options, guide technical decisions, and mentor engineers on architecture.
• Create technical debt reduction strategies and influence roadmaps to include debt work.
• Define documentation standards, systems, templates, and spec-driven development practices.
• Lead pattern generalization initiatives and establish criteria for generalized versus custom solutions.
• Define reliability standards, drive post-incident improvements, design capacity planning processes, and mentor engineers on SRE practices.

Mandatory Experience

• At least 7 years of relevant professional software engineering experience with full-stack delivery across backend and frontend.
• Deep production experience with Python and JavaScript or TypeScript.
• At least 2 years of generative AI application development involving LLM integrations, vector databases, RAG systems, and evaluation pipelines.
• Strong experience with Next.js or React and backend API development.
• Extensive cloud platform experience, including infrastructure as code with CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Working knowledge of relational, document, and key-value databases, including PostgreSQL and Redis.
• Strong CI/CD, containerization, and production deployment experience.
• Fluency with AI coding tools and the ability to design agentic engineering workflows and train teams.
• Stable career history without a pattern of frequent job changes.

Preferred Experience

• Advanced RAG techniques including hybrid search, reranking, and query expansion.
