Machine Operator – Steel Processing - Decatur, Alabama Friedman Industries is hiring a safety-focused Overhead Crane Operator for our Sinton, TX facility.

WHAT YOU'LL DO (Job Description)

• Safely operate 10-, 15-, and 30-ton overhead cranes using multiple lifting techniques and wireless remotes.
• Move bundles and coils of steel to production lines and load/unload trucks and railcars.
• Identify material, follow placement protocols, and keep accurate inventory paperwork.
• Communicate quality and service issues and support continuous-improvement efforts.
• Keep your area clean and safe, and help hold the team accountable to safe work practices. WHAT YOU'LL BRING (Qualifications / Experience)
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of overhead crane operating experience.
• Basic math skills, and the ability to read a micrometer and tape measure.
• Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and to execute complex, detailed processes accurately and consistently.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and to adapt to change.
• Ability to work in a plant environment.
• Capable of lifting 50 pounds repeatedly with proper ergonomic form, and to work without sitting (other than breaks) for an entire shift.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, multiple shifts, and weekends.
• Reliable transportation. NICE TO HAVE
• Some post-high-school education.
• Experience operating equipment in the same or a similar industry to steel cut-to-length operations.
