Network Engineer

Overview

• The role is/should
• Design, deploy, and maintain resilient LAN/WAN and campus network infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and security across offices and data centres in Doha.
• ***Key responsibilities***
• Design, configure and support core, distribution and access layer networks (routers, switches, VLANs, subnetting).
• Manage WAN connectivity, SD-WAN, MPLS, VPNs and carrier relationships.
• Implement and maintain network security controls (firewalls, IDS/IPS, NAC, segmentation).
• Monitor network performance, troubleshoot incidents, perform root‑cause analysis and coordinate remediation.
• Deploy and operate wireless networks (WLAN design, controllers, APs) and ensure coverage/capacity.
• Configure routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), QoS and multicast where required.
• Maintain network documentation, topology diagrams, IP addressing schemes and change records.
• Support network automation and orchestration (Ansible, Python scripting, NetConf/REST APIs).
• Perform firmware/patch management, backup/restore and disaster‑recovery testing.
• Collaborate with security, systems and cloud teams for integrations and hybrid networking.
• Maintain SLAs, perform capacity planning and optimise network costs.
• Provide on‑call support and participate in incident response as needed.
• ***Qualifications & experience***
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years’ experience designing and supporting enterprise networks; GCC/Doha experience preferred.
• Hands‑on with Cisco, Juniper, Aruba/HPE or equivalent network vendors.
• Strong knowledge of routing/switching, TCP/IP, VLANs, STP, BGP, OSPF and QoS.
• Experience with firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS and wireless technologies.
• Scripting/automation skills (Python, Ansible) and familiarity with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios) desirable.
• Relevant certifications advantageous: CCNA/CCNP, JNCIP, Aruba ACSP, or equivalent.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Valid work authorisation for Qatar.
