The Network Engineer 2 is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing Berkshire Hathaway Energy’s enterprise network infrastructure.
This role focuses on the implementation, operation, and troubleshooting of routed and switched networks, network security technologies, and associated management tools.
The position also supports the deployment of new networking technologies and applies automation and scripting to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
The role contributes to high‑availability, secure, and compliant network operations across corporate, data center, and field environments.
Configure, support, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, wireless systems, and related network services.
Deploy and integrate new network technologies and solutions in alignment with architectural standards, operational requirements, and lifecycle roadmaps.
Implement network changes using established change management, security, and compliance processes.
Develop, maintain, and leverage network automation and scripting solutions to improve consistency, scalability, and operational efficiency.
Monitor network performance and availability, proactively identifying and resolving issues to support reliable operations.
Support network segmentation, routing policies, and access design to meet business and operational requirements.
Participate in network lifecycle activities, including technology evaluations, hardware refreshes, software upgrades, and decommissioning.
Collaborate with engineering, security, systems, and application teams to support enterprise IT and operational technology (OT) connectivity needs.
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, standards, and procedures.
Provide Tier 2 escalation support for network incidents and service requests.
Coordinate with vendors and service providers for circuit provisioning, technology implementation, and support engagements.
Participate in on‑call rotations and scheduled after‑hours maintenance activities as required.
