About the Department

Position Duties

• PREFERENCES: Preference will be given to a candidate that has a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological or Physical Science. Additional preference will be given to the candidate with direct experience in exploration through drilling of all types of minerals, with an emphasis on non-coal minerals such as uranium, lithium, trona and gold. KNOWLEDGE: Basic knowledge of mineral exploration and surface mining projects. Basic knowledge of natural resources sciences to analyze exploration and surface mining projects. Application of solid and plain geometry Application of trigonometry Practical knowledge of basic word processing, GIS/GPS programs and the use of field-capable tablets. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor's Degree (typically in The Sciences) Experience: 1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in The Sciences) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Natural Resources Analyst OR Education & Experience Substitution: 4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in The Sciences) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Natural Resources Analyst Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None

Minimum Qualifications

• PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Inspection of mineral exploration sites and surface mining sites involves over-the-road travel and requires the ability to drive a motor vehicle over paved highways and improved gravel roads. Also, the ability to negotiate uneven terrain on foot in order to traverse mine and exploration sites safely is essential. Most inspections are conducted during the growing season (April through July); however, some may need to be conducted during shoulder seasons when inclement conditions may be encountered. NOTES: FLSA: Exempt The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality may use a video interview as a mandatory first step of our process. If chosen for a video interview, you will receive an email with all the necessary information to complete the process
