Responsibilities
- Contribute to formulation and design of country programme and AWPs in line with government priorities

- Prepare and manage budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure timely reporting
- Participate in national and sub national fora to enhance UNFPA mandate on gender and human rights

- Develop factsheets, briefing materials, and presentations for public information and advocacy
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in law, human rights, gender, development, population studies or related social science field

- Experience in gender and human rights programming is desirable
- Work experience in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Gender Based Violence is preferred
- Fluency in English; knowledge of other UN languages, preferably French

The Position
- The Programme Analyst, Gender and Human Rights position is located in the Country Office of UNFPA in Kampala and reports to Programme Coordinator Gender and Youth in the Gender Equality and Youth (GEYD) unit.
You would be responsible for
- Programme Management: In collaboration with Government counterparts, NGOs and other partners contribute substantively to the formulation and design of the country programme and its AWPs.
- Analyze and report on programme and project progress in terms of achieving results towards Output 2 of the Country Programme 10 (CPD10).
- Write Programme and project reports aligned with UNFPA and donor standards.
- Monitor implementing partners, in alignment with UNFPA policies, to ensure quality implementation and accountabilities.
- Expedite and coordinate project implementation establishing collaborative relationships with executing agencies.
- Help create and document knowledge about current and emerging trends and issues.
- Prepare and manage relevant budgets; Monitor expenditures to ensure delivery is in line with approved budgets.
- Raise requisitions for relevant travels and procurement under the e procurement module in Quantum.
- Manage assets that have been procured by the UNFPA and supplied to the implementing partners.
- Technical Expertise: Analyze and interpret the political, social and economic environment relevant to Gender and Human Rights programming.
- Participate in relevant national and sub national fora, enhancing UNFPA mandate on Gender and Human Rights programming.
- Address policy issues and provide substantive inputs to facilitate policy dialogue.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Master’s Degree in law, human rights, gender, development, population studies and/or other related social science fields.
- Knowledge and Experience: At least 2 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in the field of development and population activities required and a focus on gender and human rights is desirable.
- Work experience in the field of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Gender Based Violence is preferred.
- Specialized knowledge and experience in Gender and Human rights approaches will be desired.
- Specialized knowledge and experience in gender based violence including the promotion of women’s access to justice.
- Experience in programme/ project management including experience in large multi sector programmes.
- Experience working with the Ministry of Gender Youth or a Human Rights Organization in Uganda is desirable.
- Field experience is an asset; Prior experience in the UN system is an asset.
- Languages: Fluency in English; knowledge of other official UN languages, preferably French.
