Overview

  • At UES, we’re a team of more than 4,000 engineers, scientists, geologists, inspectors, technicians, and drillers united by a shared purpose—to make a meaningful impact in the communities we serve.
  • As a national leader in geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, and materials testing and inspection, we collaborate on transformative projects across transportation, energy, water, healthcare, and more.

Position Overview

  • At UES, we’re poised to significantly expand our footprint in the data center sector—and we’re looking for a strategic leader to drive that growth.
  • As the National Growth Leader – Data Centers, you will help lead and execute our national data center strategy, combining market facing business development with strong technical and project delivery insight.
  • You’ll be the connector between our clients’ development needs and UES’s capabilities.
  • In this role, you will lead national business development efforts across hyperscale and colocation markets while partnering closely with our technical teams to shape smart, deliverable solutions.
  • You will build and deepen relationships with key owners, developers, operators, and design partners; help qualify and prioritize opportunities; and work with regional operations leaders to position UES for major programs and multi site portfolios.
  • We’re looking for a leader who brings both industry connectivity and technical credibility—someone who can sit comfortably with hyperscale and colocation decision makers, speak their language around site selection, power, permitting, and risk, and then translate that into clear scopes and win strate

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Growth: Develop and execute national plans to expand the Data Center sector, identifying high value technical opportunities and project leads.
  • Client Engagement: Establish and maintain deep seated relationships with key industry stakeholders through direct engagement and presence at major industry conferences.
  • Technical Advisory: Serve as a high level resource for data center projects, providing strategic input and subject matter expertise on proposals and bids
  • Market Intelligence: Track industry trends and market developments to inform both strategic planning and technical execution
  • Proposal Leadership: Collaborate with national account managers to craft winning proposals, presentations, and client outreach strategies
  • Operational Excellence: Lead through influence across the organization to ensure technical quality and project milestones are achieved
  • Process Optimization: Drive the standardization of proposal templates and estimating tools to ensure a consistent, professional national response

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the engineering consulting industry, including at least 5 years in a technical leadership or project management role.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in or with engineering consulting firms, specifically within the data center sector.
  • Proven experience managing large scale data center infrastructure projects, including site characterization, materials testing, and construction oversight.
  • Strong technical knowledge of geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, or building sciences as applied to data center developments.
  • Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in engineering modeling software, estimating tools, and project management platforms.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage technical quality assurance for multiple concurrent data center projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing Network: Deep, pre existing relationships with Data Center Developers, Operators, Hyperscalers, or General Contractors
  • Strategic Influence: A proven track record of securing national contracts and positioning a firm as a preferred partner for Mission Critical infrastructure
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Consulting, Construction Materials Testing (CMT), or Building Envelope services is preferred

Travel Requirements

  • This position requires occasional domestic overnight travel, approximately 10% to 20% of the time, to support business objectives and client engagements.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • This position operates in a hybrid work environment, requiring flexibility to work effectively from both a professional office and work site setting.
  • On Site Office Requirements: Work is performed at a desk for extended periods using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment in a climate controlled office environment.
  • Regular in person communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders is required.
