Essential Responsibilities
- Safety and Field Experience:
- Complete safety orientation, follow jobsite requirements, and learn how crews work safely around electrical infrastructure, heavy equipment, and active construction sites.
- Visit jobsites with supervision and take part in safety observations, pre-planning conversations, and hazard-recognition activities.
- See how safety, quality, schedule, productivity, and cost shape day-to-day project decisions, and share observations with the right project or safety leader.
- Project Coordination and Documentation:
- Help organize drawings, specifications, contracts, submittals, RFIs, meeting notes, schedules, and other project records.
- Support project startup, estimating handoffs, document control, reporting, and routine updates.
- Track action items, deadlines, material and equipment needs, permits, inspections, site access, and other project details so the team has accurate information.
- Preconstruction and Planning:
- Assist with basic quantity takeoffs, scope reviews, bid documents, and plan/spec comparisons.
- Learn how projects are estimated, planned, scheduled, and handed off to operations.
- Gain exposure to transmission, distribution, substation, and other infrastructure construction methods through planning meetings and field-prep activities.
- Scheduling, Resources, and Project Controls:
- Attend project meetings, capture key decisions and follow-up items, and update approved trackers or schedules with direction from the Project Manager.
- Help coordinate materials, tools, equipment, vendors, and information needed by field crews.
- Support material tracking, purchase-order documentation, quotes, delivery coordination, cost coding, expense tracking, billing support, and change-order logs while learning the basics of budgets, productivity, forecasting, cash flow, and profitability.
- Complete assigned tasks under supervision; interns do not independently approve purchases, contracts, change orders, or financial transactions.
- Communication, Teamwork, and Closeout:
- Communicate professionally with Project Managers, field leaders, craft employees, customers, vendors, and internal partners.
- Prepare meeting notes, status updates, reports, and project correspondence for review while asking questions, seeking feedback, and following through on commitments.
- Support punch-list tracking, as-built documentation, warranty information, final billing support, closeout packages, and lessons-learned discussions.
- Complete an internship capstone or defined project assignment that shows what you learned and adds value to the business.

How project budgets, cost tracking, labor productivity, billing, forecasting, and profitability are managed.
Professional communication, accountability, and collaboration between office and field teams.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Business, or a related field; equivalent technical education or relevant experience may also be considered.
- Interested in utility construction, electrical infrastructure, project management, estimating, engineering, or field operations.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills and willingness to learn company project management systems, drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Ability to travel to project sites and work in both office and active construction environments as needed.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- The internship includes both office and jobsite work, with some daily travel. Office work may include sitting, standing, and computer use for extended periods. Jobsite visits may include walking or standing for long periods, stairs or uneven ground, outdoor weather, noise, heavy equipment, and required personal protective equipment. Jobsite activities will be supervised and follow company and customer safety requirements. Reasonable accommodation may be made for qualified individuals.
