The Mobile Building Engineer i s responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing building systems across multiple facilities within an assigned territory.
This role performs preventative maintenance and responds to service requests involving HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building automation systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable building operations.
Pay: $30.50/hour.
The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position.
A specific offer will vary based on applicant’s experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.
401(k) – You become eligible to make personal contributions beginning the first of the month following 30 days of employment.
You become eligible for the ABM match beginning the first of the month following six months of employment.
ABM matches your pre-tax and/or Roth contributions, dollar for dollar, for the first 3%.
For the next 2%, ABM contributes $0.50 for each dollar you contribute.
Your contributions and match are immediately vested.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Travel between assigned properties to perform routine inspections and maintenance.
- Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC equipment, including air handlers, chillers, package units, and related systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance on electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety systems.
- Respond promptly to service requests and emergency maintenance situations.
- Inspect buildings for operational deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and work orders.
- Assist with vendor coordination and oversight of contracted services
- Perform minor carpentry, painting, and general building repairs as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety programs, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Support energy management initiatives and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies when required.
- Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and replacement parts.
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical school or vocational training in HVAC, electrical, or mechanical systems preferred.
Experience
- 3+ years of commercial building maintenance or engineering experience.
- Experience working with multiple building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and controls.
- Experience servicing multiple sites or mobile engineering roles preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and mobile work-order applications.
