Role overview

AECOM is seeking a Mineral Processing Practice Leader to drive growth, technical excellence, and market leadership.

This senior leadership role combines technical depth, commercial acumen, people development, global reach, and significant autonomy.

Core responsibilities

  • Lead the growth, technical excellence, and strategic direction of the Mineral Processing practice.
  • Define technical vision and lead engineers and metallurgists.
  • Drive global business development across base metals, precious metals, critical minerals, and industrial minerals.
  • Act as a recognized subject matter expert and mentor processing engineers.
  • Command client confidence at executive level and deliver client-focused solutions.

Technical coverage

  • Comminution includes crushing, grinding, and classification.
  • Processing methods include gravity, flotation, magnetic separation, hydrometallurgy, and leaching circuits.
  • The practice covers tailings management, water recovery, process simulation, and modelling with MMIMS and JKSimMet.
  • Delivery includes feasibility and scoping studies, trade-off studies, engineering design, owner’s engineer support, EPCM support, operational reviews, and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least 10 years of experience in metallurgical, chemical, mineral processing engineering, or a related field.
  • Master’s or PhD, 15 or more years of progressive experience, consulting or EPCM experience, and professional registration are preferred.
  • Strong communication, technical leadership, workstream management, and client-solution delivery experience are preferred.
  • Willingness to travel globally is preferred.

Project and commodity scope

Projects include greenfield plants from 500 to 100,000 tonnes per day, brownfield expansions, retrofits, audits, benchmarking, technology selection, and vendor evaluation.

Commodity coverage includes base metals, precious metals, critical minerals, industrial minerals, and bulk commodities.

Workplace and onboarding

  • New employees must attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office.
