Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and analyse refined product data across the Middle East
- Build and maintain downstream supply and demand models by product and country
- Analyse refinery operations, configurations, and outages
- Assess product trade flows, export destinations, and arbitrage dynamics
- Analyse pricing structures and develop short and long term forecasts
- Monitor policy and regulatory developments affecting Middle Eastern product markets
- Prepare client facing presentations, charts, and written analysis
- Contribute to client deliverables including briefings, reports, and workshops
- Work with large datasets and bring structure to ambiguous situations
- Use AI and data tools to accelerate research and improve insight communication
Requirements
- Up to 3 years of relevant experience or strong graduate
- Strong analytical foundations and intellectual curiosity
- Highly numerate and comfortable with large datasets
- Advanced Excel with strong modelling aptitude
- Fluency in English
- Python or SQL is a plus
- Arabic is an advantage
- Right to work in UAE or visa eligibility

The Role
- Analyst role focused on Middle Eastern downstream markets.
- Develop expertise in refined product markets including refinery operations, supply/demand, trade flows, pricing, and regional market structure.
- Work closely with specialists across upstream, refining, crude and products trading, and macroeconomics.
What You'll Do Market Analysis & Modelling
- Collect, clean, and analyse refined product data across the Middle East — supply, demand, trade, and pricing.
- Build and maintain downstream supply and demand models by product and country.
- Analyse refinery operations and configurations, including throughput, yields, outages, and new capacity additions.
- Assess product trade flows, export destinations, import requirements, and arbitrage dynamics.
- Analyse pricing structures, including regional benchmarks, netbacks, and linkages to crude and global product markets.
- Develop short and long term downstream market forecasts.
Market Intelligence & Research
- Monitor policy, subsidy, specification, and regulatory developments affecting Middle Eastern product markets.
- Translate data and market developments into clear, forward looking insight.
- Prepare client facing presentations, charts, and written analysis.
- Contribute to client deliverables including briefings, reports, and workshops.
- Support senior analysts and consultants on cross barrel and cross regional projects.
Data & Tools
- Work with large, often imperfect datasets and bring structure and clarity to ambiguous situations.
- Contribute to how analysis is integrated into Lumen as the platform evolves.
- Use AI and data tools where relevant to accelerate research and improve how insight is communicated.
What We're Looking For
- Open to candidates with up to 3 years of relevant experience, as well as strong graduates.
- Background in energy, engineering, economics, chemistry, mathematics, finance, or related field.
- Prior downstream or oil market experience not required; training provided.
- Genuinely curious about refined product markets, trade economics, and regional market structure.
- Highly numerate and comfortable working with large, complex datasets.
- Can build and interpret product balance and refinery models.
- Think critically about market balances, pricing, refinery behaviour, and trade dynamics.
- Communicate clearly in writing, charts, and conversation.
- Comfortable managing multiple tasks in a deadline driven environment.
- Eager to learn, develop, and take on increasing ownership.
- Exploring how AI and modern data tools can support analytical work.
- Advanced Excel with strong modelling aptitude essential; Python or SQL is a meaningful plus.
