Mid-Level Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator

Peraton is looking to add a Mid-Level Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator with hands-on experience as a production database administrator experienced in AWS EC2 and RDS for SQL Server.

The qualified individual will be responsible for meeting service level agreements covering performance, availability, backups, and security for several user groups supporting those application.

Shift Schedule: 8am – 5pm Eastern Standard Time (EST).

This position will participate in 24x7 on-call rotations for the production environment.

• Install Microsoft SQL Server instances in various configurations:
• Standalone, Windows Failover Cluster, and Availability Groups
• Cloud hosting (AWS) including SQL Server RDS.
• Develop, test, deploy and maintain security and audit solutions.
• Implement Center for Internet Security (CIS) and Safeguard Computer Security Evaluation Matrix (SCSEM) hardening standards.
• Review NESSUS scans to remediate vulnerabilities and database compliance findings.
• Schedule, monitor, and validate database backups and restores.
• Responsible for monitoring metrics collection jobs for performance, availability, and capacity planning though through Datadog.
• Schedule and apply DB upgrades, patches, and certificates.
• Follow best practices, work plans, checklists, and defined processes.
• Proactively support application teams as needed.
• Participate in project technical reviews. Lead work product reviews.
• Develop and maintain database support documentation.
• Responsible of complex database incidents and problems, providing resolutions in a timely manner.
• Engage SMEs or vendors to resolve more complex incidents as required.
• Implement customer database change requests.
