Role Overview

Assists the Director of Security in managing daily security operations at the hotel.

Protects property assets, employees, guests, and the property while supporting accident and fire prevention and response.

Maintains logs, certifications, and documents required by law and standard operating procedures.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED with 3 years of security, loss-prevention, or related professional experience.
  • Alternatively, a 2-year degree in Criminal Justice or a related major with 1 year of relevant professional experience.
  • Maintains first aid and CPR certifications required for security officers.

Managing Security Operations

  • Assists with emergency procedure development and implementation.
  • Recommends follow-up action for security breaches and investigates property asset losses.
  • Deploys security staff to monitor and protect property assets.
  • Reports employee accidents and general liability incidents through the required service.
  • Conducts patrols of the property and parking areas and maintains required reports.
  • Inspects security equipment and ensures that it is fully functioning.
  • Identifies hazards and unsafe practices and implements risk control plans.
  • Provides or arranges timely medical attention and implements local authority security and safety requirements.

Leading Security Teams

  • Attends operational and forecast meetings to understand group needs and communicate relevant information to security officers.
  • Leads, coaches, mentors, and develops security team members.
  • Provides guidance, sets performance standards, and monitors employee performance.
  • Communicates safety procedures and codes and ensures employee understanding.
  • Completes performance appraisals and disciplinary documentation according to applicable procedures.
  • Develops or delivers training programs and supports the employee peer review process.

Guest Service and Human Resources

  • Handles guest complaints, disputes, grievances, and conflicts.
  • Promotes exceptional guest hospitality and empowers employees to provide excellent customer service.
  • Works to meet quality standards and customer expectations and improve satisfaction and retention.
  • Supports claims management, raises issues with Human Resources, and works to improve service performance.
